Our History is God’s history
Found in 1993.
31 years together
In 1990, as Mongolia began to open up to the world, a wave of missionaries began arriving, eager to share the gospel. Among them was a young man, just over 30, who came to the capital city with his wife and small son. This was the beginning of something special—what would eventually become our YWAM base, established in 1993.
These pioneers were part of the vision Loren Cunningham had for a generation of young people being sent out to the nations. They took that call to heart, and their journey in Mongolia was just the start.
Today, our YWAM UB base is thriving. We have 15 full-time staff and 35 dedicated volunteers, all of whom have committed their lives to serving Jesus and walking by faith. Together, we offer a variety of ministries and programs that make a real difference in people’s lives. These include training courses like the UDTS and IDTS, worship gatherings, Word ministries, nomad outreach, teen ministry, mission teams, sports ministry, and media outreach.
Each day, we continue to build on the legacy of those early pioneers, and we are excited to see how God is moving in Mongolia and beyond!
Worship Youth Conference
In January 2024, we hosted an unforgettable **Worship Youth Conference**, drawing 1,400 young people hungry for God. Among them, 600 were not part of any church, and the Holy Spirit moved powerfully as 300 of these youth gave their lives to Jesus. It was a powerful moment of transformation and a reminder of the incredible work God is doing among Mongolia's next generation.
Monthly Youth Gathering
On the first Thursday of every month, we gather around 150 young people for a time of worship, prayer, and hearing the word of God. The worship team consists of about 20 people, and 10 individuals serve on the serving team. Our heart is to create a space where young people can seek the Lord, build community, and invite their unbelieving friends. Over the past three years of hosting this event, we have seen this ministry grow into a true community and a source of encouragement for this generation.
Teen Ministry
Our **Teen Ministry** is focused on raising up the next generation of disciples in Mongolia. Every year, we run a **Teen Discipleship Training Course**, and in 2024, we celebrated our 16th edition of this life-changing program. Over the years, we've reached over 1,000 young people through various initiatives, and the fruit is evident: we are seeing a true revival among Mongolian youth. Their passion for Jesus is contagious, and it's clear that God is at work in their lives!

Word Ministry
Inspired by **Ezra 7:10**, our mission is to raise up a generation of Mongolians who are deeply rooted in the Word of God. We are working to spread this vision across all 21 provinces of Mongolia. Through programs like the **School of Biblical Studies (SBS)**, **Discipleship Bible School (DBS)**, Bible camps for kids, evening Bible schools for working adults, and small group studies, we are equipping people to live out God’s Word. We also distribute Bible materials, ensuring that people have access to the scriptures in their own language.
UDTS (University Discipleship Training School)
Our **UDTS** (University Discipleship Training School) offers young people in the city the opportunity to engage in discipleship without having to leave their jobs or studies. In 2024, we are excited to be running our 13th UDTS with 13 students and 10 staff members. This program is equipping the next wave of leaders who are passionate about sharing the gospel and living out their faith in the midst of busy city life.

Mission
-
Short-term Missions: In 2024, we sent out 7 mission teams to 23 different locations across Mongolia, with about 122 people involved. Each mission was an opportunity to make a tangible impact in communities and see lives transformed.
-
Long-term Mission Fields
-
In Mongolia: In 2023, Munkh-Od’s family was sent to “Khentii Province” to pioneer a new YWAM base, focusing on reaching youth through sports ministry. Their work is already bringing hope and change to this remote area.
-
Outside Mongolia: Ulziibayar’s family has been serving in “Kyrgyzstan” since 2019, and we continue to see God move powerfully in Central Asia as part of our broader mission to impact this region.

Media Ministry
In 2024, we released the **“In His Presence”** worship book, a collection of songs translated and worked on by YWAM. This resource is a testimony to the global worship movement we are part of and the power of music to connect us to God. We are also using the media to testify to the incredible things God is doing in our generation—reaching new hearts and showing His glory in the 21st century.
Sports Ministry
In the fall of 2024, we launched the **On3 3v3 Christian League**, an initiative to unite churches across Mongolia through the love of basketball. The league now features 40 teams from 32 different churches, with over 2,000 players participating. We encourage each team to include at least two non-Christians, allowing us to reach out to basketball lovers who may not otherwise encounter the gospel. Through sports, we are fostering unity, partnership, and discipleship across church communities, and we are thrilled to see how this league is creating opportunities for God to work in powerful ways.
Nomad Ministry
Mongolia’s nomadic culture presents a unique challenge and opportunity for outreach. We are pioneering new ways to reach and discipline herding families, planting churches where they live and sharing the gospel in a way that is relevant to their lifestyle. Our goal is to ensure that no one is left behind, regardless of how remote or isolated their location may be.
IDTS (International Discipleship Training School)
The **IDTS** is a five-month discipleship program designed to reach young people from all over the world. Since 2022, we have had students from countries like Thailand, Sweden, Myanmar, Nepal, and Afghanistan, and staff from USA, Italy, Cambodia, India, and Mongolia. The diversity in this program has been beautiful, as students and staff from different cultures and backgrounds have come together to grow in their faith. Over the past two years, our students have traveled to Central Asia, including Kazakhstan,Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and served in Southeast Asia, including Thailand. Their experiences have been life-changing, with many of them finding healing, discovering their identity in Christ, and receiving a heart for the nations. Despite the challenges of language and cultural differences, this school has been a powerful testament to God’s ability to bring people together for His purposes.

Prayer Requests
-
One of our major prayer requests as a base is for God’s provision to purchase a vehicle that can off-road in the countryside and reach nomadic families. Currently, we are looking to purchase a 2007 Mitsubishi Delica L400. The cost of this vehicle is approximately $15,000 USD, and there is an urgency to make the purchase before the end of the year, as UB (Ulaanbaatar), the capital city, will stop issuing new license plates after this year. Please join us in praying that God will provide for this need and make it possible for us to acquire a vehicle that will enable us to easily minister to the unreached in the countryside of Mongolia.
-
Our second dream is for additional housing for our base. The main problem we are facing is that we are out growing our YWAM base and are limited now with long term staff and school sizes. Please pray for provision for additional family and long term staff housing. We are currently raising 270,000,000₮ ($80,118) in order to build an additional building on our current property. As a base we are praying to begin building in May of next year.
-
Currently we are inviting more long term staff to join our community. Please pray for an increase of full time staff who are passionate about this next generation and the unreached in Mongolia.
-
University DTS has a dream of starting this DTS ministry in 2 other regions of Mongolia. Please pray for leaders to arise that can pioneer this ministry in other regions of Mongolia
